A Dance Shorts commission, choreographed by Joanna Young

PenGwyn is a visually magnetic and surreal mix of dance theatre inspired by the characteristics and connotations of a penguin. Dance Shorts is a partnership between venues and artists. The artists are commissioned to create 10 minutes of innovative dance to be presented free in the foyer before a main performance. The piece evolved through a ritualistic and instinctive response to the study of penguins, carving a character through an ever-shifting situation. It can be performed anywhere and created such a buzz during its Spring/Summer tour that there are now plans to re-create it into a full length production for stage with 5 outstanding performers.
