Under Dark Skies

Under Dark Skies has been Commissioned by Foundation for Community Dance and produced by Powys Dance for the People Dancing Festival in Cardiff. The piece explores ideas of scale and time and what it means for people to look up at the night sky.  Joanna has been working with participants from Powys Youth and Senior dance groups, collaborating with Portuguese composer Filipe Sousa and British film maker Simon Clode to create an installation inspired by the dark skies of Powys.  Investigating our internal connections to the outside and inside spaces; using the themes of time, scale and night sky as a means to connect.  The final installation will be an immersive experience, layering together the sounds, films and movements we’ve experienced and collected through this unique creative process.

"Magical, enchanting and intriguing. Beautiful, powerful subtlety that drew you in until you really didn't want to leave."

— Donald Hutera. Animated Magazine, March 2015

"A deeply intimate installation" "In these tiny narratives and events we were invited outwards to wider phenomena in a network of
bodies, skies and wild places."
